INTRODUCTION  to the BOOK PROJECT 

In early February 2019, Yvonne Belen proposed to the ICBE platform that they will come out with a second Souvenir Book to be published in 2029. She said the materials will be from ICBE consultations--2021 ICBE through the 2027 ICBE. Among other things, these could include overall reports on each consultation, speeches, biodata of authors, photos during the consultation and cultural night, impressions, letters.  

Evangeline Martinez replied on the 14th of February and said she is happy to be involved. She said though that 10 years is too long and is inclined for four to six years or every three years of ICBE consultations. Her reason is relevance. She thinks souvenir books should capture the relevant and current trends. She would be happy to join the team that will work on the Souvenir Book.

Earlier, Christina Moncado, Grace Nabus, Averil Pooten and Myra Colis gave their feedback and volunteered to join the team. Lorena Clerc and Kristine Gayep Kawi Gorans also gave their feedback and joined the group.  

During the discussions of the group members, they came up with the title: 

TRAVELS, TRAVAILS and TRIUMPHS of Igorot Cordillerans in Europe.

The general objective is to: educate, encourage, inform, inspire and entertain. 

The specific objectives are: 

(1) To tell our stories as Igorot Cordillerans in Europe that will draw on our Igorotness in navigating our way as migrants in Europe. 

(2) For the first-generation Igorot Cordillerans to narrate their journey from the Philippines to Europe with their dream and the realities they faced in the host country. 

(3) For the first-generation Igorot Cordillerans to share how they empowered themselves.

(4) For the second- and third-generation to narrate their families’ oral histories.

(5) For the second- and third-generation to share their success stories.

(6) For all or some, to share their travel narratives during tours or holidays.  

After some discussion of the eight group members, they came up with a “Call for Submission.”
