Information on the 9th Igorot Cordillera BIMAAK Europe (ICBE)  

April 28 – May 1, 2017 

        Rome, Italy 

Host: Cordillerans in Rome (Cordi Rome)

1. Accommodation 

1.1. Venue

Casa per ferie Salesiana del Sacro Cuore

Via Marsala, 42

Rome, Italy

1.2. Type of accommodation: Bed and Breakfast.

1.3. Nature of room: Two single beds. Each room has a toilet and shower. 

1.4. Reservation made: 15 rooms with two single beds. This means a total of 30 beds.

1.5. Cost of bed and breakfast in 2016 is € 98.00 per room. Each person pays € 49.00 per night. The cost might increase in 2017.

N.B. Cordi Rome will know the cost per room in January 2017.

1.6. Deadline for reservation: December 15, 2016.

1.7. Total cost of Bed and Breakfast for the conference will range from € 147.00 - €170.00 (depending on the price increase in 2017).

1.8. Cordi Rome is requesting they will receive the payment for Bed and Breakfast a week before January 31, 2017. 

1.9. There are also rooms for three or four persons.

1.10. Children will pay the same rate as adults.

1.11. Since the venue is adjacent to the Termini, there will only be one ride from the international airport, Fiumicino-Leonardo da Vinci, to the Termini and vice versa. 

N.B. The venue is the cheapest that Cordi Rome can find. Hotel rates are expensive within the city.

2. Conference Halls

2.1. At “Casa per ferie Salesiana del Sacro Cuore,” (Casa) there is a conference hall good for 40 persons and another that can accommodate 150 persons.

2.2. The conference delegates can use these halls.

2.3. These halls are for rent.

2.4. Rent of hall will be included in the registration fee of all participants.

2.5. Beating of gongs is not allowed in the conference halls.

3. Meals

3.1. Since lunch and dinner will not be served at the Casa, the participants will go to the city. Cordi Rome will look for places where the participants will eat. 

3.2. Cost of lunch or dinner ranges from € 6.00 – € 8.00. This amount will be included in the registration fee.

3.3. The conference organizer is not allowed to bring in food for snacks.

4. Theme and Speaker

4.1. Theme: “Appreciating Benguet (People, Land & Culture) and Highlighting the Experiences of Cordillera Migrant Workers in Italy.”

4.2. The theme’s first part on peoples of Benguet will focus on the Ibalois, Kalanguya and Karao.

4.3. The speaker will be: The Rev. Cesar T. Taguba, an Ibaloi, from Adaoay, Kabayan, Benguet.

4.4. For the second part, the proposal is for the Cordillera migrant workers in Italy (Bologna-Modena, Como-Milan, Modena, Naples, Rome, Turin) to share their experiences.

6. Program

6.1. Cordi Rome is requesting ICBE to help in making the program.

(Yvonne Belen is volunteering to make a Draft Program, and send it to Cordi Rome and ICBE forum in January 2017).

 6.2. The request is for Cordi Rome to take care of the: Opening Ceremony, Cultural Night and Closing Session.

7. Cultural Night

7.1. Cordi Rome is looking for a venue, where the men can beat the gongs.

7.2. The hall will be rented.

7.3. The rent will be included in the registration fee of participants and entrance fee of those attending the Cultural Night.

7.4. Cordi Rome will determine the entrance fee.

8. Tour

8.1. Cordi-Rome is proposing a tour to Pompeii with side trip to Reggia di Caserta.

8.2. Pompeii was an ancient Roman town-city near modern Naples, in the Campania region of Italy, in the territory of the comune of Pompei. Pompeii, along with Herculaneum and many villas in the surrounding area, was mostly destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m (13 to 20 ft) of volcanic ash and pumice in the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD.

8.3. The Royal Palace of Caserta (Italian: Reggia di Caserta) is a former royal residence in Caserta, southern Italy, constructed for the Bourbon kings of Naples. It is one of the largest palaces erected in Europe during the 18th century. In 1997, the palace was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site; its nomination described it as “the swan song of the spectacular art of the Baroque, from which it adopted all the features needed to create the illusions of multidirectional space”.[1] In terms of volume, the Royal Palace of Caserta is the largest royal residence in the world[2] with over 2 million m³[3] and covering an area of about 235,000 m² .[4]

8.4. Cost of tour per person: € 30.00.

8.5. The cost will include: bus fare, lunch and entrance fee to Pompeii.

8.6. The trip to Pompeii will take two to three hours.

8.7. Prospective participants are requested to indicate if they are joining the tour.

9. Registration fee

9.1. For those staying at the Casa, the estimated conference registration fee is € 250.00.

N.B. This amount is on the high side since Cordi Rome will still know the cost of Bed and Breakfast in 2017.

9.2. The fee includes:

> Lodging from: April 28 – 30, 2016.

> Breakfast from: April 29 – May 1, 2016.

> Meals from April 28 (dinner) through May 1 (lunch).

> Contribution to: rent of conference halls, venue of cultural night, streamer, decoration, conference kit and expenses of Cordi Rome during their preparatory meetings.

9.3. The fee of € 30.00 for the tour will be paid separately.

9.4. For those attending the other sessions including the Cultural Night, Cordi Rome will determine the registration fee. 

10. Mode of Payment of Registration Fee

10.1 Send the whole amount of € 250.00 byJanuary 31, 2017 to bank account details that Cordi Rome will provide later.  

10.2. Remit the payment for the venue byJanuary 31, 2017and send the rest of the amount at a date that Cordi Rome will specify.

11. How to Reach the Venue

From Fiumicino Airport-Leonardo da Vinci Airport to Termini

11.1. Going to Termini by train: Outside the airport there is a little train station with direct connection to Roma Termini. Train makes no mid-journey stops.

Cost of the ticket: 14.00 euro.

11.2. Going to Rermini by Bus

There are busses going to Termini.

Cost of ticket: 4.00 – 5.00 euro.

12. Letters of Invite

Those who want to attend the 9th ICBE Consultation and need a visa for Italy are advised to apply for a tourist visa at the Italian Embassy in their country.  

13. Words of Thanks to Cordi Rome

We would like to thank Cordi Rome for their time and effort. Rosmar said they’re all busy working (some work from8:00until 20.00 hours) and can only find time to have a meeting in the weekends. They’re going to do their best in hosting the 9th ICBE Consultation.
